Backup of folders and network shares alongside the DR, sharing the same space, the same scheduling grid and the option to buy extra TB.

Sefthy Archive backs up folders and network shares alongside the disk image protected by Disaster Recovery. It is what you use when the DR covers the main server but you also want a secondary disk or a customer share in the cloud.

Where to find it

  1. In the left menu, under Backup, open Archive. The entry shows up for admin and partner users.
  2. The list has one Archive per active Disaster Recovery plan. Click the name to open it.

How the page is laid out

At the top you get the service name, the customer and the backup state, Archive protected or Backup running. Right below there are four tiles.

  • Used space, how much the backups of this DR take today.
  • TB Quota, the plan quota plus any TB you bought.
  • Region, the cloud where the data is kept.
  • Local backup, active once you have configured an SMB share.

The left column holds the Directories and Buy Additional Space cards. On the right you get Latest Activities, with the backup heat map and the schedule and speed buttons, and Latest Tasks with the job history.

Choosing what to back up

  1. In the Directories card click Add Directory.
  2. Type the path of the local folder or of the network share and confirm.
  3. If the share asks for a password, click Manage Directory Credentials and add path, user and password. The Console tries the connection from the device before saving.

The bin next to a row removes that folder from the backup. Data already uploaded stays in the cloud.

Running a backup right now

The Backup now button, top right, starts a copy straight away. If you have configured the SMB share the Console asks where to write first, Cloud or Local. While the job runs, Stop running backup takes its place.

Schedule and speed

The Latest Activities header holds Backup Schedules and Backup Speed. The grid is the same one as the DR, one row per day and one column per hour, painted by clicking or dragging across the cells. Here the tabs are two, Cloud Schedules and Local Schedules, with no DeepVerify Schedule tab.

At the top of the grid you read how many backups a day the plan allows. At the end of each row a counter says how many you put on that day out of the maximum, 5/8 for instance, and turns red together with the day name when you go over. While a day is over the limit, the note with the days to fix shows under the grid and Confirm stays off.

Buying space

The Buy Additional Space card has a slider in TB. Move it, read the pro rata charge worked out on the months left until renewal and click Buy and Expand. It is a real purchase, so on top of DR management you need the resource purchase permission. The TB you add are added to the plan quota and count for DR and Archive together.
