On demand backup and stopping it

The schedule covers the routine. An on demand backup is for the moments when you do not want to wait for the next slot, before a system update, after a data migration or when a scheduled backup was missed.

Starting the backup

1. Open the DR from the Disaster Recovery list.
2. In the action bar at the top click Backup now.
3. If you have configured an SMB share the Run Backup modal asks where to write. Pick Sefthy Cloud or Local SMB and confirm.
4. With no SMB share configured there is nothing to choose, the backup starts to the cloud right away.

The page reloads and the message “Backup started!” shows at the top. An on demand backup adds to the schedule, it does not move it and it does not use up the slots you painted.

Following it in Latest Activities

In the Latest Activities card a bar shows up with the percentage and the words “Backup running”. It refreshes by itself. Hover the bar to read how much data has been transferred out of the total.

In the same card, the cell map sums up the last seven days. Each cell is one hour and its colour says how it went. The tooltip counts, for that hour, Successful Backups, Error, Missed, Warning and Running. The row by row detail, with duration and log, is in the Latest Tasks table further down.

Stopping a running backup

While the job runs, Stop running backup takes the place of Backup now. One click sends the stop and the page reloads with the message “Backup stopped!”.

Two cases where it does not stop from here.

• The server is off. The Console tells you so and the Sefthy Agent closes the job by itself after a few minutes.
• The stop does not go through. You get “Could not stop the backup”. Try again in a moment or let the job finish.
