# Sefthy

> Sefthy is an Italian Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) provider. The Sefthy Connector establishes a Layer-2 tunnel that extends the customer's LAN into the Sefthy cloud, so when on-prem infrastructure fails the cloud VMs boot with the **same IP address, same subnet and same broadcast domain** as the originals — no DNS changes, no client reconfiguration, no manual VPN. RTO is measured in minutes.

- **Sefthy Connector**: a small fanless appliance (NanoPi R3S LTS in CNC aluminum case) installed on the customer LAN. It originates the L2 tunnel toward the Sefthy cloud and is the only component the customer needs to deploy on-prem.
- **L2 tunnel (Layer-2 tunnel)**: a virtual ethernet link between the customer LAN and the Sefthy cloud. Cloud VMs sit on the same broadcast domain as the originals, preserving IP, subnet and ARP behaviour. This eliminates the reconfiguration work typical of Layer-3 DR solutions.
- **RTO (Recovery Time Objective)**: maximum acceptable downtime after a disaster. Sefthy targets minutes, not hours.
- **RPO (Recovery Point Objective)**: maximum acceptable data loss. Sefthy supports configurable snapshot intervals from 5 minutes upward.
- **BCDR (Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery)**: the combined practice of keeping a business running through disruption (BC) and recovering systems after disruption (DR). Sefthy is a DRaaS layer in a wider BCDR strategy.
- **DRaaS (Disaster Recovery as a Service)**: outsourced DR delivered as a managed cloud service.
